DANVERS- Dorothy (Demmons) Curtis, 76, passed away surrounded by her family on February 14, 2022, following a brief illness. Born in Peabody on March 16, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Stewart) Demmons. She grew up in a very close-knit family. She was the youngest of eleven children and a lifelong resident of Danvers. Dottie graduated from Holten High School in 1963. She had worked in the medical field until her retirement. Dottie devoted her entire life to her children, grandchildren and family. Her grandchildren were her entire world. She would always attend their sporting events, cheering them on proudly. She was always there for them, in a time of need. She is survived by two daughters, Cammie Pozniak and her husband, Anthony Pozniak of Ocala, FL and Kerri Nessinger and her husband, Michael of Danvers, three grandchildren, Austin Belanger and Cheyenne and Savannah Nessinger, her sister, Doris Lundquist of KY and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, John, Donald, Robert and Harold Demmons and Joyce Hussey, Margaret Moore and Elizabeth Lyons and her longtime companion Jack Emerald. She will be dearly missed by her loyal dog, Sprinkles. Her Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Monday, February 21, 2022, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers. Visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 4-6PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Hope House, 8 Farnham St., Boston, MA, 02119 or Beverly Bootstraps, 15 Park St., Beverly, MA, 01915.

  2. thoughts and prayers are with all the family…..we were neighbors in redford Michigan….she was so helpful on my wedding day and on the day our first born daughter was born…….we visited out east several times and had such a great visits…She was such an important part of my life……hugs…..

  4. Dotty will be missed by all, but heaven has gained an angel – Kerri and Spouse, Cheyenne and Savannah, Cammie, and Spouse, and Austin – Mom / Grammie will be looking down upon all of you always.

    I’m a neighbor of Dotty and whenever she saw my 3 & 1/2 year old grandson, her eyes would light up & she’d say I just love that kid so much !!

    You are all in my thoughts and prayers @ this very difficult time.

  5. My sincere sympathy to Dottie’s family. Dottie was an awesome lady, we had many laughs at Apple Village and 2 years ago when we got together at my apartment for New Years Eve. Dottie you were a great lady and I will always remember you with great respect and fondness. R.I.P. my friend.
