Edna F. McCoo

Edna Frances “Mitch” (Meuse) McCoo, of Danvers, formerly of Arlington and South Dennis, died after a short illness on June 1 at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Mitchell and Richard H. McCoo. Born in Winchester on October 28, 1924, she was the sixth of seven children born to the late Edward F. and Florence M. (Muse) Meuse. Edna grew up on Cape Cod and served as a civilian mechanic at Camp Edwards during World War II before working for many years as a labor and delivery room nurse at Symmes Hospital in Arlington. She is survived by her children Debra Walsh and her husband John of Danvers, Joanne D’Antuono and her husband Robert of Burlington, Edward Mitchell and his wife Mary of Medford, and Dr. Suzanne Mitchell and her husband Eddie Gomez of Beverly, as well as her stepdaughter Kathleen McAuliffe of Arlington, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Edna’s life will be Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10:30AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Interment will be at Annunciation Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
