Eric A. Hartnett, 61, passed away after an unexpected accident on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at his home in Wenham. Eric was born in Salem, April 29, 1959, the son of the late Ronald A. and Joan A. [Eon] Hartnett. He attended Essex Agricultural High School, Danvers/Middleton. He was the fourth child of six children. Eric was predeceased by his parents. Eric was employed by several landscaping firms over the years and later joined the “family” business, Hartnett Auto Body and Car Wash for many years. He was well-known in the car wash equipment sales and service industry having been employed at Sonny’s Enterprise in Florida for several years. Eric is survived by his loving sister, Joan M. Hartnett of Nashville, Tennessee, four brothers: R. Alan Hartnett and his partner Steven Brigandi of Hampton, New Hampshire; Dana F. Hartnett and his wife Virginia of Beverly; Joel T. Hartnett and his wife Patricia of Danvers; Dean K. Hartnett and his wife Christie of Seabrook, New Hampshire. He was a loving uncle to Adam N. Hartnett of Beverly; Jonathan Hartnett and his wife Jean of Danvers; Meghan and her husband Drew Hester of California; Katelyn and her husband Eric Kiel of Boston; Dean T. Hartnett and Drew M. Hartnett of Seabrook, New Hampshire; and two grandnephews, Wesley G. Hartnett of Danvers and Camden K. Hester of California. Eric is also survived many friends and business associates throughout the North East States and Florida. Visiting hours are Friday, April 29, 2022 from 4-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations in his memory to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, P.O. Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923.   1. Eric and I were in the same class at Essex Aggie. He was always very involved with the Agricultural side of the school. He loved landscaping, Forestry, the fruit growing classes and the Horticulture. We all had a great time at this school. Wonderful memories. Our Prayers are with you and your Family.

    My heart is broken for the entire family. We had such wonderful fun together whether I was babysitting or not.. I still live across the street from the Hartnett house.   4. My eyes are full of tears..Eric would call me to make all his travel arrangements to all the car wash conversations. As teens we would sit at the kitchen table and share toast his mother had made in the morning. He was a kind and gentle soul..Going to miss him. Prayers to his family..Marianne Sowinski

  6. My Sincere condolences to the Hartnett Family. I had the pleasure of knowing Eric for the past 33 years. He was always kind and looked out for me when I was growing up in my Grandfather’s business. We had a mutual respect for one another. I will miss our times reminiscing about the old days!.

  7. Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and minds. We will never, ever be the same after meeting such wonderful individuals. Eric was my friend and such a person. I will miss everything about him that infectious laugh and spirit. I’ll miss our dinners at steak houses all over the Northshore and bar room adventures. Stories of Eric oh yeah I’ve got a few but I’m keeping them close as a memory of an extraordinary man. Eric was my friend I will miss him dearly. Thank you for being my friend Eric.

  9. Eric was a true friend who was always there to help you out with anything that you needed. I knew him from Essex Aggie Class of 78′ and kept in touch all these years. He had so much to give and I’m sure that he’s still giving in heaven and watching over us to continue his legacy of caring, honesty, love and respect for all.   11. Both Gary and I were so saddened to learn of Eric’s unexpected passing. It’s been a lifetime since we’ve seen each other, and I still remember Eric as such a sweet and shy little boy! Time truly flies by. our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

  12. Peter, I knew Eric for over 30 years. His brother Alan is a big part of my life. My daughter goes to Esses North Shore for Landscaping, the former Aggie, and they are rebuilding the Larkin cottage and I have purchased a brick for the new walkway in memory of Eric. He will always be a part of the school. Be well.
