George A. Makros, 96, passed away on August 2, 2025, following a brief illness.
Born in Beverly on June 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Angel and Helen (Troubetaris) Makros. George was raised and educated in Beverly. He served our country with the United States Navy during World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars. He had a long career with the United States Navy serving as a naval photographer, completing various mission at home and abroad.
George was a lifelong member of Saint Vasilios Church. He also was a Mason with the Budleigh Lodge in Beverly. He enjoyed boating and fishing and wintering in Citrus Springs, Florida.
He is survived by six children, Cathleen Chadwick of Groveland, Steven Makros of Florida, George Makros of New Hampshire, Christopher Makros and his wife, Debbie of Florida, Andrew Makros and his wife Julie of Florida and Michael Makros and his wife Joy of Florida, his siblings, John Makros and his wife Pauline of Danvers, Patricia Hardy of Delaware, Louis Makros of New Hampshire and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Emanuel Makros and Nicholas and Daniel Hardy.
