PEABODY- Gloria Domenica (Mascioli) Sorenson, 89, passed away on March 2, 2018 at Hathorne Hill Nursing Facility, with her loving family by her side. Born in Beverly on October 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Ida (Baldessari) Mascioli. She was raised and educated in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School in 1945. Gloria began her career at Bell Telephone in Beverly as a telephone operator. She continued her career with New England Telephone and retired from Nynex in the marketing department. As a high school student, she very much enjoyed working at the Ware Theatre (now Cabot Theatre), where her love for old movies began. Gloria loved being a mother to her four children, taking them on annual camping trips and frequent picnics at the Salem Willows. She had a passion for cooking, baking, and dancing. Gloria loved being a grandmother; spending time with her family made her the happiest. She is survived by four children, Patricia Sorenson and her wife, Sharon Durette of Georgetown, Kathy Sorenson-Orechia and her husband, Walter Orechia, Jr. of Peabody, Walter Sorenson, Jr. of Groveland and John Sorenson and his wife, Gail, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Albert Antidormi of NJ and Linda and Michael Maselbas of Beverly, 5 grandchildren, Gabriella and Gregory Sorenson, Emma, James and Mary Grace Sorenson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Braccia and her former husband, Walter Sorenson, Sr. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Beverly. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7:30PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gloria’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
