Henry J. Stanford, 92, died Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Eleanor C. (White) Stanford, with whom he shared over sixty-six years of marriage. Born in Peabody on April 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Kobierski) Staniszewski. He was raised in Peabody and was a graduate of Newman Preparatory School and a member of the Class of 1953 at Boston College. Henry enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a young man and served his country honorably during WWII. A longtime Danvers resident, he retired from Genrad as purchasing agent. An active communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, he served as a lector, eucharistic minister, taught in the confirmation program, and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a past commander of the Danvers VFW and was a member of the Danvers Overseas Veterans Assoc. He and his wife also enjoyed dancing with the Riverside Squares for many years. In addition to his wife, he leaves five children, William Stanford and Robert Stanford, both of Belgrade Lakes, ME, Nancy Stanford and Thomas Stanford and his wife Cheryl, all of Danvers, and Susan Stanford of Auburn, ME, eleven grandchildren, Thomas Jr., Stephanie, Dylan, Timothy, Christopher, Aaron, Gary, Julie, Stephanie & James, and Henry, two siblings, Stanley Stanford and his wife Lynn of California and Florence Piccola of Boxford, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Lee Hilenski, Sandra Zwiercan, Alice Paskowski, and Frances Moss. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Weds., July 10, 2019 at 11:30AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry’s name may be made to the American ME/CFS Society, P.O Box 26, Whately, MA 01093.

  1. My deepest condolences to your family on the passing of beloved Henry. I worked as a teller at Danvers Savings Bank years ago and he was so cheerful to me and I was happy to see him, I opened the drive-up every morning and I was there first so I saw Henry and Bob all the time. He was a very special man and will be missed by many.
