Irene F. Hutchinson

Irene F. (Norton) Hutchinson passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 3, 2016 at the Sutton Hill Center in North Andover at the age of 96. Born in Salem on July 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Edith (Norman) Norton. She attended Saint James School where following graduation, she continued her education at the Bentley School of Business. Irene became an accountant and worked until her retirement in 1983. Irene met her husband, Edward B. Hutchinson II in 1947 and they were married on April 3, 1948. They shared 57 years of marriage until Ed’s death on May 26, 2005. Irene and Ed made their home in Salem until moving to Danvers in 1954 where they resided for the next thirty years. They retired to West Barnstable on Cape Cod where they resided for the next 22 years until Ed’s passing. Irene enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, dabbling in the stock market, spending time with family and friends. She volunteered at Cape Cod Thrift Shop and Cape Cod Hospital. She leaves four children, Edward Hutchinson III of Atkinson, NH, Luanne Drelick of Groveland, Carla Ash of Groveland, and John Hutchinson of Castle Pines, CO, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary LeBlanc. Her Graveside Service will be Friday, October 7, 2016 at 9:15AM in the Mass National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-7PM in C.R.
