Jean L. Eastman

April 3, 1929 ~ December 20, 2019
ARIZONA—Jean Louise Eastman passed away peacefully on December 20, 2019, in the home of her daughter, in Cottonwood AZ. Jean was the only child born to William and Florence Nihan of Lynn Massachusetts. She was recognized at a young age for her exceptionally beautiful soprano voice and occasionally sang solo on Arthur Fiedler & The Boston Pops Orchestra Radio Show.
While working for the Boston Globe Jean met her life-long loving partner Charles Eastman. They married May 1952 at St Mary’s Church in Lynn. Jean and her husband went on to raise three daughters, Kathleen Louise Webb, Patricia Anne Mullen, and Elaine Marie St. Jean in Danvers before moving to Haverhill, Massachusetts. The whole family enjoyed holidays in the White Mountains as well as sharing a passion for roller-skating. Although she only skated one time (and broke her arm) Jean was always at the skating rink giving support to her daughters skating hobby.
When the children reached school age, Jean began to work at the New England Telephone Company as a telephone operator. This was a job that she loved very much. Upon retiring to Sandown, New Hampshire Jean and Charles took the opportunity to travel extensively. A passion that took them to China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hawaii.
Jean was elected and served on the Board of Canvassers in Sandown.
Jean lost her beloved husband in April 2005, where she then moved in with her daughter Patricia in Rhode Island. She was also able to spend time in the UK with Kathleen and finally in Arizona with Elaine.
Along with her three daughters, Jean is survived by her son-in-law Edward Mullen of Warwick, RI ; 11 grandchildren Jennifer and Patrick Mullen (children of Patricia); Dean, Vrinda, Kalindi, Niryan (children of Kathleen); Elijah, Aaron, Chelsey, Jeremy, Christine (children of Elaine) and 8 great-grandchildren.
