BEVERLY- Joan I.(Morphew) Hay, age 92, passed away on May 8th,2020 at the Pilgrim House Rehabilitation Center in Peabody from a long illness. She was born in Beverly November 5th 1927 to the late Bridget (Faray) and John Morphew. She was a graduate of Beverly High School in 1944 and Wilfred Academy School of Cosmetology. She was the loving wife of the late Robert S. Hay with whom she shared 56 years of marriage and raised three girls. Joan was employed for many years as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at the former Greater Salem Visiting Nurse Association. Upon retirement, Joan and her husband Bob enjoyed vacationing in Bermuda and the Caribbean Islands. Joan was a long term member at the Beverly YMCA and Senior Center where she and her beloved sister, Pat enjoyed the group exercise programs. Joan is survived by her daughters, Diane Hubbard and son-in-law Dan, of Altadena, CA (formally from Beverly, MA) and Debra Vallee of Beverly, her brother Phillip Morphew of Santa Rosa, CA and her sister in law, Nancy (Hay) Upham of Hampstead, NC. She was the cherished grandmother to Lori Hough, Matthew Hubbard, Erin Bonwell and Tyler Fossiano and her great grandchildren, Griffin Hough, Brayden and Sam Bonwell, and William and Abby Hubbard. Joan was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Pickard, her brothers John and James Morphew, her sisters Dorothy Corbett, Freda Abdo, Lillian Morphew, Gladys Samuelson, Vera Hanson and her best friend and sister, Patricia Schevis. Due to the restrictions of the Covid-19 virus interment and celebration of her life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Joan’s name to the American Humane Society at www.americanhumane.org
