John F. "Jack" Nichols

DANVERS- John F. “Jack” Nichols, Sr., 81, peacefully passed away in his home, surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2021. He was the husband of Altie E. (Hall) Nichols with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Lynn on December 31, 1939, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Flynn) Nichols. Jack was raised and educated in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School in 1959. He had been employed with the Department of Public Works for the Town of Danvers for a number of years prior to becoming a delivery man for Tri City Sales. Jack had been a Danvers resident for over 50 years. He was a devoted Catholic and had been a Eucharistic minister for Saint Richard Parish in Danvers and the Carmelite Chapel in Peabody for over 30 years. Jack was also an avid New England sports fan. He especially loved the Patriots and Red Sox which led to his collection of major league baseball jerseys. In addition to his wife, Altie, he is survived by his son John Nichols, Jr. and his wife Donna of Tewksbury, his daughter, Terri Nichols and her partner, Todd Ouellette of Peabody, his grandchildren, Krystal Nichols, Joey, Nevaeh, Bianca and Brianna, his siblings, Beverly Mario of Revere, Dolores Anganis of Saugus and Paul “Bruce” Nichols of Saco, ME, the family pets, Jake, Rio and Baron and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three siblings, Elizabeth LeCouras, James “King” Nichols and Richard “Dickie” Nichols. His visitation will be held from 3-6PM on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Attendees are kindly asked to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing. All other services will be held privately due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923 or Saint Richard Parish, 90 Forest St., Danvers, MA, 01923.

  2. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Jack. He was a very spiritual gentleman who
    was very active for many years at the North Shore Carmelite Chapel where his presence will be very much missed!

    My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

  3. Dear Auntie and Terri and Johnny, My heart is so sad for the loss of Uncle, but rejoicing in knowing he is with Jesus and my dad. Uncle was the best Godfather that God could of given me. He taught me what loving Jesus looked liked, shown me what true faith was and showed me the meaning of love. I am so very grateful for him and for his kindness, He was a man of integrity and kindness.
    Until we meet again, Uncle. I love you 999 million gazillion.

  4. I was very fortunate to celebrate mass with Jack Nichols daily for four years. I was deeply touched by his humility, kindness and prayerfulness. He always had something nice to say about everybody and everything. He served God and His people very generously and joyfully. He is one of the finest human beings I will ever know!!
