John H. Knowles

John Hartigan Knowles, 78, of Peabody, died Monday, May 4, 2020 at Beverly Hospital. Born in Salem on July 22, 1941, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Harney) Knowles. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. John served honorably in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He then studied at the Massachusetts Agricultural College in Stockbridge. In his adult life, he lived mostly in Danvers and Peabody and was employed as an arborist for several tree service companies and landscapers. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Thomas E. Power Council #1505. He enjoyed hunting and training his dogs. He leaves several friends and neighbors who were devoted to him. Graveside services were held privately in Star of the Sea Cemetery ion Marblehead. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Home for Little Wanderers, 10 Guest St., Boston, MA 02135. Arrangements are by C.R.
