John J. “Jack” Donahue, Jr., 85, of Danvers, died Friday morning, July 8, 2022. He was the cherished husband of Sandra G. (Stepanischen) Donahue, with whom he shared sixty-two years of marriage. Born in Malden on October 28, 1936, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Davis) Donahue. He was raised and educated in Malden and was a 1955 graduate of Malden High School. He then served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. Jack was a talented carpenter who was especially skilled with finish carpentry. He was a member of Carpenters Local 218 until the time of his retirement. He was a longtime, active member of the Polish Club in Danvers, where he served as vice-president for nearly two decades. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Danvers Fish & Game Club. Family was everything to Jack. He was happiest being surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he leaves two children, Laurie Donahue of North Reading and John Donahue, III of Danvers, five adoring grandchildren, Courtney, Bryan, Brandon, Cameron, and Conor Smith, a sister, Joanne Russman of Danville, NH, a brother, Paul Donahue and his wife Lexie of North Reading, a brother-in-law, Robert Stepanischen and his wife Janice, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11:30AM in Saint Theresa Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
