Joseph N. Gallant, 93, a loving father and grandfather, died Sunday, December 21, 2025 at his Danvers home following a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Catherine Mary (Howard) Gallant, with whom he shared sixty-two years of marriage.

Born in Salem on December 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Theodore and Judith Gallant. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School. He furthered his education at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Joe served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Known to some as Joe and others as Norman, he began his professional career at Creese and Cook and Hebb Leather as plant manager in Danvers before retiring as general manager of Salem Oil & Grease after several years of service.

A communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers, where he had been a resident since 1965, Joe was a lifelong member and Past Supreme Organizer and Regional Commander of the Order of Alhambra in Ipswich, a charitable organization for the assistance of special needs children. He was also a member the Knights of Columbus in Danvers and the Sons of Italy.

He leaves two sons, Norman Gallant of Springfield and David Gallant of Danvers, three grandsons, Evan Gallant, Daryl Gallant and his wife Quinn, and David Ian Gallant, a great-granddaughter, Sarah M. Gallant, and many nieces and nephews. The last of nine siblings, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters Larry, Robert, Norman, Rose, Ann, Alice, Theresa, and Emily.

His Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 10:30a.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be Tuesday morning prior to the service beginning at 9:30a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to Saint Mary of the Annunciation Parish, 90 Forest St., Danvers, MA 01923.
