Born in:
Beverly, Massachusetts
Resided in:
Topsfield, Massachusetts
Judith A. Cassidy, 84, beloved wife of F. Michael Cassidy, with whom she shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, passed away peacefully at home in Topsfield on Tuesday, May 20th, with her husband by her side.
Known to all as Judy, she grew up in Danvers, raised her family in Peabody and spent her final happy years in Topsfield. She was the daughter of Edward and Catherine (McCarthy) Dwyer, longtime residents of Danvers. Judy grew up in the family home on Wenham Street, attended Danvers High School and proudly earned her LPN training at the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing back in 1960.
In 1962, Judy married the love of her life, F. Michael Cassidy. After spending time in Germany during Mike’s service in the U.S. Air Force, the couple settled in Peabody, where they raised their four children: Valerie, Lisa, Tracy and Michael. Judy was an active hands-on parent who assisted with school projects, attended sporting events and created bake goods for various fund raisers or class celebrations. She was a mom to four but loved by many; neighborhood kids knew that at Judy’s house; tables were for glasses.
Judy adored her family. After raising her children, she threw herself wholeheartedly into the role of grandmother to Rebecca, Cee, Emma, Spencer and Trevor. Whether it was a trip to a local zoo or a grand adventure to Walt Disney World, Judy embraced every moment with boundless energy, joy and inspiration. Age never defined her-at 70, she was still riding roller coasters with the grandkids, including the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster.
Alongside her full life as a mom and wife, Judy worked over 50 years as an amazing nurse. She began her career in the maternity ward at Hunt Hospital in Danvers, later worked at Beverly Hospital and eventually joined the team at North Shore Pediatrics where she helped care for thousands of children. As a seasoned professional, she mentored countless young nurses and doctors, generously sharing her practical wisdom. Even seasonal flu shots were no match for her calm, efficient approach.
Judy had a zest for life that extended far beyond her home and career. She was always curious and eager to try new hobbies, ceramics and Bunka embroidery among them—but she and Mike truly hit their stride as global travelers and food lovers. Together they explored destinations like China, Russia, Spain, France, Iceland, Hawaii, and Alaska, and sampled the world’s cuisines—from The French Laundry in Napa to tapas in Barcelona to an Imperial Dinner in Beijing. They savored every adventure, side by side.
In addition to her devoted husband Mike, Judy is survived by her children: – Valerie Cassidy, her husband Chris Murray, and their children Cee and Emma Murray – Lisa Cassidy, her husband Joe Caples, and her daughter Rebecca Ahmed – Tracy Cassidy, her husband Joe Linonis, and their children Spencer and Trevor Linonis – Michael Cassidy and his wife Zumrut
