Karol (Macary) Labovitz, 87, of Peabody, Massachusetts, formerly of Middlebury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 20th, 2025, at Brooksby Village. She was predeceased by her first husband of more than 20 years, Richard P. Macary of Waterbury, Connecticut, and by her second husband of 13 years, Atty. Elliott S. Labovitz of Middlebury, Connecticut.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, the daughter of the late George Frederick Krodel and Mildred (Jones) Krodel, she attended Notre Dame Academy & Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, Connecticut and was a graduate of Saint Elizabeth University in Morristown, New Jersey.
After college, Karol returned to Waterbury, where she and Richard raised their growing family. Years later, she found love again with Elliott. She worked in early childhood education and later helped manage the family business, Krodel Foundry, Inc. Karol was vibrant, sociable, and happiest when surrounded by loved ones. She treasured family gatherings, parties, and travel with her husbands, children, grandchildren, and friends.
Karol and her family found great enjoyment spending many summers on Cape Cod, so much so that the family held residence in various homes in the Mid-Cape area for several decades. Karol loved the challenge of adding her artistic interior design talents to many of these homes. She had an insatiable creative flair and enjoyed the hunt at various Cape Cod consignment shops & boutiques for interesting items to complete her property transformations. However, Karol’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, engaging in holiday gatherings & family celebrations and proudly supporting the personal successes of her children and grandchildren.
Karol is survived by her sister Lois (Krodel) Dembowski and her husband Richard Dembowski; her son David Macary and his wife Susana (Joaquin) Macary; her son Stephen Macary; her son George Macary and his wife Christina (Weidler) Macary; her stepson Charles Labovitz and his wife Allison (Carter) Labovitz; her son Patrick Macary and his wife Patricia (Griffin) Macary; and her daughter Cezanne Macary and significant other Evangelos Liapis; She was also pre-deceased by her stepdaughter, Sara (Labovitz) Nikolakopoulos.
