Kathleen A. (Boyd) Gobiel, 54, passed away on January 7, 2025, after courageously battling lymphoma for many years. She was the loving wife of Bryan Gobiel, with whom she shared 27 years of marriage.
Born in Medford on May 21, 1971, she was the daughter of the late William Jr. and Dorothy (Francis) Boyd. Kathy was raised and educated in Medford and graduated from Medford High School in 1989. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Communications from Suffolk University. Kathy was employed with Hancock Associates for 17 years.
Kathy especially enjoyed family trips and spending time at the beach.
Kathy was always positive, looking for the bright side in everything and facing challenges with her signature “We’ve got this” attitude. Her spirit was indomitable: the red‑headed warrior in a Mickey T-shirt and Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers.
She became an inspiration to many others facing cancer, quietly offering guidance on coping with pain, fatigue, and the effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Making others feel understood and less alone.
Kathy leaves a hole in our lives bigger than she was, and we will all be a little less without her. She would want us to help one another through this sad time by leaning on each other, sharing the good memories, and laughing together at the stories she left behind.
In addition to her husband, Bryan, she is survived by her beloved daughter Sarah Gobiel of Danvers, her two brothers William Boyd III and his wife Michelle of New Hampshire and her twin brother, Bobby Boyd of Medford, many nieces and nephews and extended family.
