Mary Lee Henderson

Mary Lee (Hanson) Henderson, 85, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield. She was the wife of the late James G. Henderson.
Born in Beverly on June 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ellen (O’Neill) Hanson. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School.
Mrs. Henderson was employed as a teacher’s aide at the Lakeside School in Peabody for more than twenty-five years.
A longtime Danvers resident, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and was a mother not only to her own children but to many. She was the kindest person you could ever meet and will be dearly missed.
She leaves two children, James M. Henderson of Washington State and Laurie A. Henderson of Danvers, her son-in-law, Richard Appel of Danvers, eight grandchildren, Christopher, Ben, and Katie Appel, Cody and Drew Piazza, Samantha Moore, and Jamie and Ian Henderson, two great-grandsons, Aiden and Isaac, a brother, R.J. Hanson and his wife Susan of Saco, ME, a brother-in-law, James Bean, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving daughter, Lisa M. Appel, a sister, Judie Bean, and a brother, Dwight Hanson.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 11AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are prior to the service from 9-10:45AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Odd Cat Sanctuary, PO Box 405, Salem, MA 01970.
