Nancy J. Fitzgerald

Nancy J. Fitzgerald, 84, died peacefully Friday, January 4, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Leo J. Fitzgerald, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Pennsylvania on Sept. 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Katherine (Fisher) Baum. She was raised and educated in Alexandria, VA and had been a Danvers resident and communicant at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church for more than fifty years.
As a young woman, Nancy had a successful career as a model. As her children grew, she returned to the workforce; first, at Danvers High School where she was a beloved and dedicated administrative secretary, and then at Goldberg Properties in Beverly, where she retired as a bookkeeper.
Nancy was very artistic. She enjoyed painting, teaching ceramics, cake decorating, gardening and creating beautiful jewelry. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her chihuahuas.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Jeanne Clawson and her husband Brian of Ipswich, Nancy Fitzgerald Doherty and her husband James of Beverly, Susan Fitzgerald of Marblehead, and John Fitzgerald of Danvers, four grandchildren, Erin, Sean, Connor, and Kara Doherty, all of Beverly, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant son, Sean Fitzgerald.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o 24 Conant St., Danvers, MA 01923.
I remember taking ceramics with Jeanne. We had it at your house. My mom still has the mother of pearl jewelry box that I made and your mom fired it up for me. Sorry for your loss. Wonderful woman
