Born in: Salem, Massachusetts
Resided in: Danvers, Massachusetts

Paul J. Anketell, 61, died peacefully at his Danvers home on June 2, 2025, following a brief illness. Born in Salem on December 26, 1963, he was the son of the late William and Patricia (Cunningham) Anketell.

A hardworking and loyal employee, Paul spent 20 years as an assistant store manager at Home Depot. Earlier in his career, he worked as a deli manager at Market Basket and at International Floors.

Paul was the loving and devoted husband of Ashley McDonald Anketell, with whom he shared 21 years of marriage and countless memories. Together, they cherished their time away to York Beach, enjoying peaceful escapes and visiting York’s Wild Animal Kingdom and the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut—places that reflected Paul’s quiet kindness and love for animals.

In addition to his wife, Ashley, Paul leaves his siblings: Sharon Pittella, Tricia Forsythe, John Anketell, Jim Anketell, Janet LeBlanc, and Mary Cameron, along with their families. He also leaves his cousins and second family, Bud Wodarski and Mary Gibney, whose companionship meant so much to him.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm St., Salisbury, MA 01952.  To share a message of sympathy with Paul’s family, please visit www.LyonsFuneral.com.
