Born in Beverly on Nov. 9, 1954, he was the son of Marjorie (Twisden) Watson of Danvers and the late James Watson. A lifelong Danvers resident, he was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1972.
Rick was employed as a heavy equipment operator, most recently with Agresource in Rowley.
He was a longtime member of the Danvers Fish & Game Club and he had an incredible talent restoring vehicles and equipment.
In addition to his mother, he leaves a sister, Kathleen of Danvers, two brothers, Tom of Peabody and James of Salem, several nieces and nephews, as well as many loving extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services are private and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
I would sit with the boys while Mom and Dad were out. He was always good for me .
this a sad memory to have of a very nice man.
I worked for 25 years at Fishery Products in the Danvers Industrial Park. Over that time Rick did a number of construction related jobs for the company. I haven’t seen him in over a dozen years and was saddened this morning when I read of his passing. Rick was always respectful and when he took on a job, we knew it would be done right. He was such a good guy. The world is a little bit worse off today.
My condolences to his family and friends.

I’ve known Richard since High School. When we acquired our license, we hung around at the new McDonald’s on Rt 114 with our cars in the early 70’s. Over the years I’d occasionally see Richard driving his Red Ford around town and we’d stop, have coffee and chat for awhile. I continued to keep in touch with Richard throughout the years up until a few weeks ago when I saw him getting the mail from his mailbox. I’ll miss seeing him mowing his lawn when I drive by his house and waving to him or him driving his truck around Danvers and Middleton. Truly a great and caring person… My condolence to his extended family.

For some reason this song popped into my head when I heard the News -“We had joy, we had fun, ,building corn huts in the sun….” We were all round faced and tanned.. To all of you, my deepest sympathies, especially to you Marge. Ricky was your “baby’ – this has to be a tough one. Please know that my prayers and sympathies lie with you all. All of the Watson’s will forever hold a special place in my heart. He will never be forgotten!
