Richard M. Contardo

Richard M. Contardo, 84, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Salem Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gloria (Barone) Contardo.
Born in Boston on Nov. 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Vito and Catherine (Sanella) Contardo. He was raised and educated in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Contardo owned and operated the Vogue Lounge in Saugus for many years, and had previously owned and operated the Elm Garden Café in Everett. In retirement, he enjoyed working as a courier and as a driver for the Ride.
A longtime Lynnfield resident, he enjoyed his daily coffee with friends at the North Shore Mall.
He leaves three children, Lisa A. Rizzo of Danvers, Richard K. Contardo and his wife Marnie of Peabody, and David S. Contardo and his wife Kimberly of Lynnfield, five grandchildren, Richard Rizzo and Nicholas, Joseph “Jac”, Cohle, and Cashius Contardo. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, his dear lifelong friends John and Gayle Galante, and Josephine Barone, the wife of his late brother-in-law Louis. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Richard Rizzo.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at 9AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
