Richard "Robbie" Robinson

DANVERS- Richard W. “Robbie” Robinson, Sr., 90, passed away on July 10, 2022. He was the husband of Lorraine (Supronvich) Robinson with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Salem on November 24, 1931, he was the son of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Currier) Robinson. He was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1949. Robbie received his associate’s degree from North Shore Community College. He had worked as an office clerk at Boston & Maine Railroad. He then attended the Massachusetts Police Academy and started his career with the Danvers Police Department in 1958. He retired as Sergeant in 1996. Upon retirement, he started with the Essex County Deputy Sheriff’s department in investigation of internal affairs. He also had been a See Bee with the Navy Reserves.
He was an active member of his community and was a basketball coach at Saint Mary of the Annunciation School, a member of the Danvers Couple Club, and the Polish Club. Robbie enjoyed skiing, boating and traveling. He had been a snowbird for many years, wintering in Sarasota.
In addition to his wife, Lorraine, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Robinson-Skeen and her husband, Michael Skeen of NH and his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Maria Robinson of FL, three grandchildren, Laura and Jack Robinson of FL and Catherine Skeen of ME, a sister-in-law, Kathleen Robinson of Danvers and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held graveside at 10:30AM on Saturday, July 16, 2022, in Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne St, Salem. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Danvers Police Department.
I have known Robbie for nearly 50 years. Now that’s what I call a real gentleman.
