Robert J. “Bob” Karl, 88, of St. Augustine Beach, FL, formerly of Fairfield, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 3, 2017. Bob was the loving husband of 63 years to Jean E. (Rossmeissl) Karl and devoted father of son Brian Karl and daughter in law Susan Karl of Towaco, NJ and daughter Bonnie (Karl) Roselli and son in law Patrick Roselli of South Hamilton, MA. Loving grandfather of Ryan Karl, Devin Karl and Mark Roselli. One of 6 children to the late James and Grace Karl, Bob was a Marine veteran who served honorably in both WWII and the Korean War. He was employed for 40 years at Public Service Electric & Gas Company, Newark, NJ. After retirement, Bob and Jean spent 23 happy years on the beach in St. Augustine Beach, FL, where Bob rescued injured birds for “HAWKE” and became an accomplished wood carver. One of his greatest joys was watching his son Brian and all three of his grandsons play baseball. Bob spent the last five years in Memory Care at the Brookdale, Danvers, MA community. He was lovingly cared for by extraordinary staff and nurses at Brookdale as well as by amazing staff and nurses from Care Dimensions Hospice. The Karl family is forever grateful for all of the love and care he received. Bob did not want a formal funeral or service.
