Roger M. “Skip” Wiley, III, 77, of Danvers, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Edwards) Wiley, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Born in Beverly on August 14, 1947, Skip was the son of the late Roger and Joy (Marshall) Wiley, Jr. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1965 and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy for three years. He graduated from North Shore Community College in 1971.

Skip was an active member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club and the Danvers Alarm List Company. His passion for history and the outdoors led him to become a dedicated member of the Northeast Mountain Men and the American Mountain Men. He also volunteered his time at Old Sturbridge Village, sharing his love for history with others.

An avid outdoorsman, Skip enjoyed camping—particularly primitive camping and was deeply passionate about the Revolutionary War and historical reenactments. Skip loved to play golf and one of his proudest achievements was scoring a hole-in-one at New Meadows Golf Club.

Above all, Skip was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took  great pride in coaching his son’s youth hockey team, touching the lives of many young athletes.

Skip is survived by his wife, Christine; his two children, Melissa Wiley of Beverly and Craig Wiley of San Diego; his brother, Richard of Danvers; his brother, Rob and  his wife, Jayne of Beverly; his sisters, Sandy Pasquarelli and her husband, Peter of Hamilton, and Alyson Roe and her husband, Bob of Danvers. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Aydan Wiley and Nazayah McLaughlin, his mother-in-law, Norma Edwards of Beverly, his sister-in-law, Pam Wiley of Beverly, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  He was predeceased by a brother Gordon Wiley, a sister-in-law, Heather Wiley and his nephew Jason Wiley.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Skip – Your path has you on a different trail than us, one we wish you didn’t take, but we know that we’ll meet up again some day. Those days and nights “on the trails” we shared with you were always memorable, much of that due to the warmth of your comraderie and friendship. Tho’ we part paths at this time, your spirit will always be with us. Rest in peace my brother, be well … until we meet again …

  2. Skip was the type of individual that I could count on whenever I needed assistance, a great smile and a firm handshake. He was generous with his smile and kind words. It goes without saying that I will miss his friendship.
Rest easy my friend may the Lord show you the eternal joy of Heaven.

  3. My wife & I first met Skip and Chris in the mid 70s when we all celebrated our country’s Bicentennial as re-enactors. They were a wonderful, vibrant couple, and we and our fellow comrades & families had wonderful times together both in the 18th and the 20th century. Skip always wore a smile that radiated. He was an out-door lover, who also loved to teach kids and adults about living deliberately with nature. His self-made, accurate native American teepee tent, native display, and explanations were always a hit at public programs. His respect for the environment, and celebrating both the strong “Patriot” and “Mountain” women and men of the past was admirable. Skip was always fun – a friend and a pleasure to be with.

  4. My family and myself were lucky to have known Skip. I have many fun memories of skip & his son Craig as my son was the same age as his. We were all part of the Danvers Little league family. He also worked on my addition to my house. My special memory will always be the time my family unexpected ran into his at Disney World. We all went out to dinner together. RIP Skip you were a very nice man.

  5. Chris, unfortunately I won’t be in Danvers on the 18th but know that I will be thinking of you and your family thru this difficult time.

    • To Christine and family
All of us in the emeriti group at North Shore Community College send our condolences and good wishes to you at this time of loss and mourning. Christine, you have brought so many good gifts to all of us and to your students. We hope to be with you again soon.

  6. Uncle Skip, you will be surely missed. I have so many memories of you. The best one is being a flower girl at your wedding and then seeing you running in Wolfeboro when you came up for my wedding at 7am when I was out rushing around! I remember your infectious laugh, never knowing if you were serious or joking with that poker face you had and your gentle approach to serious times. Praying for your family. Say hello to mum.. I know she was one of your favorites ❤️

  7. I’m very sorry to hear of Skip’s passing . Although I’ve been out of touch with members from the Danvers Alarm List Company for some time, my memories of our times together have been cherished. The Rebecca Nurse Homestead had brought us all together multiple times over the years, working to keeping the house and grounds in great condition, taking visitors on tours, The Strawberry Festival in June and the making of the movie, Three Sovereigns For Sarah as extras in the film. You are in my thoughts and prayers as a family to always keep him close in your hearts.
