DANVERS—Rose A. (Monaco) Rappa, 91, formerly of East Boston and West Peabody, died early Sunday morning, June 9, 2019 at the New England Homes for the Deaf in Danvers, where she had been an active member of the community for nearly fifteen years. She was married to the late Frank J. Rappa, with whom she shared forty wonderful years. Born in Revere on May 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Agostino and Pasqualina (Garafolo) Monaco. She was raised in Revere and was a graduate of the Horace Mann School in Roxbury. Rose was a fiercely strong woman who never let her deafness hold her back. Instead, her strength and determination allowed her to make a better life for herself and her cherished family. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, puzzles, and dancing. She loved clothes, jewelry, and travel. She was happiest, though, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves two beloved daughters, Carol Ann Addorisio and her husband Liberato of West Peabody and Lorraine Sullivan and her husband Shawn of Sharon, her grandchildren, Lee Michael Addorisio and his wife Stacey, Danielle O’Leary and her husband Jim, Mark Addorisio and his wife Tanya, and Ryan, Kelsey, and Frank Sullivan, two great-grandchildren, Lilyana and Franco, her sister, Lena DeFronzo, and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9AM-10:30AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory may be made to the New England Homes for the Deaf, 154 Water St., Danvers, MA 01923. Rose came into our life several years ago when she lived at New England Homes For The Deaf. All I can say about Rose is we loved her the moment we met her. She had the most beautiful smile, a twinkle in her eye, and a very kind person. Rose and my dad became wonderful friends. Rose also had such a beautiful heart, she loved everyone. We will miss Rose so much! We loved Rose with all our hearts. You are at peace now with your husband. Rest In Peace Rose. 🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️❤️

  4. Watching the videos of Rose and family brought back so many wonderful memories as I shared a good deal of my childhood in the Rappa household!

Of course, time passes and our busy lives take us in different directions, but the love remains and always will.

My thoughts and prayers are with all!

    Much love,
    Gina

  5. So sad to learn of Rose’s passing. Such a gracious, kind, and gentle soul. I knew her from working at NEHD and was witness to her later years and friendship with her dear friend Alfred. They both gave to me more than I could return in kind. Laughter, joy, human connection. xo. Peace to your family.
