Sophie Louise (King) Harris, 80, of Danvers, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 15, 2021. She was the beloved wife of William E. Harris, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Born in Greenville, Maine on April 26, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Pauline (Costigan) King. She was raised and educated in Greenville and began her working career in Greenville at the Indian Store. An accomplished seamstress, she worked at Re-Jay’s Taylor Shop and later at Hotwatt in Danvers Square. Sophie was a member of the Cape Ann Bible Church in Gloucester and when visiting her beloved Greenville, worshiped at the Church of the Open Bible. She loved knitting, crocheting, candy making, and puzzles. She was a cherished “Mamie” to her two grandsons. In addition to her husband, she leaves her two grandsons, Lee Burke and his partner Amanda of Carmel, Maine and Eric Burke and his partner Stephanie of Veazie, Maine, two sisters, Diana Vainio and her husband Ronnie of Monson, Maine, and Bonnie DuBien and her husband Larry of Greenville, Maine, and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Keegan, and Sydney. She also leaves her special cousin Dolly Harris and her husband Robert of Greenville, dear friends Sharon McCarthy and Johnny Carpenter of Etna, and several special nieces and nephews including Paula and Bill Ethier, Cathy and Jon Beasely, Melanie and Rick Schumacher, Julie Butruccio, Trisha Moulton and Darin Vainio. She also leaves her brothers-in-law, Robert Jarvis and his wife Roberta and Richard Ward, all of Monson, Maine. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Vickie Jean Thayer, and her siblings Louis Jr., Keith, Charles, Rita, Betty, and Carol. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 1PM in the Greenville Cemetery, South Main St., Greenville, ME. A Celebration of Sophie's life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 1PM in the Cape Ann Bible Church, 8 Thompson St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
