Thomas B. Dunn

September 24, 1928 ~ December 16, 2016
Thomas B. Dunn, 88, died Friday evening, December 16, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Ruth A. (Blanchard) Dunn, with whom he shared nearly 59 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody on Sept. 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Robert and Mabel (Reid) Dunn. He was raised and educated in Peabody and served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War.
Following his graduation from the New England Institute of Anatomy & Applied Science, Tom began his more than fifty-year career in funeral service where he was known as a thoughtful, compassionate, and dedicated funeral director. He began his career at the Lee & Moody Funeral Home in Beverly and then worked at the Campbell Funeral Home for many years before finishing his career with C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors in Danvers Square.
He also independently owned and operated a flower car service which was used by funeral homes throughout the North Shore for many years.
A member of the Jordan Lodge A.F.&A.M. in Peabody for many years, he was dedicated to his family and enjoyed gardening.
He leaves his loving daughter, Joanne Bennett and her husband Ronald of Swampscott, a sister, Laura Barrett and her husband William of Maine, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Annie Barker, Barbara Court, Ruth O'Leary, and John, Raymond and Donald Dunn.
His Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in North Beverly Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00-9:45AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name may be made to Boston’s Wounded Veterans, ITAM Post 6 ATTN: Vet Ride, 60 Paris St., E. Boston, MA 02128.
