wilfred surette
Wilfred P. Surette, loving husband of Susan Surette, passed away at home on June 6, 2021. Born in Eel Brook, Nova Scotia, Wilfred was one of twelve siblings of the late John and Anne Surette. Wilfred was an avid golfer and former member of Wenham Country Club. He also loved to spend time at his favorite place, Fox Hill Yacht Club in Saugus. He will be remembered as someone who loved to tell stories of his childhood, growing up in rural Nova Scotia. He was a great bowler and card player, enjoyed all sports, particularly hockey, and treasured the many hunting trips with family and friends in Cambridge, Maine. He was a person who truly loved his immediate and extended family more than anything in this world. Any time spent with a family member was a special time to him. He is survived by his five children: William (Evangelyn) Surette of Ipswich, Shawn Surette of Lynn, Andree (Vincent) Thorne of Lynn, Therese (John) Collins of Beverly and Joseph (Tracy) of Georgetown and ten grandchildren: Marykate, Kevin, Justin, Eric, Linnea, Ryan, Caroline, Jake, Luke and Mary. Also surviving are his stepchildren Ellen (Lee) Wilson of Jupiter, FL; Kathy (Andy) Strutt of West Newbury; and Steven MacDonald of Danvers, along with grandchildren: Olivia, Grace, and Celia Wilson and Reese, and Maddox MacDonald. Wilfred is survived by his three sisters: Jeanette Gregory of Ipswich, Phyllis Gaudet of Beverly and Odile Surette of Middleton, as well as many nieces and nephews. Wilfred was predeceased by his first wife Mary Catherine Surette, his brothers Peter, Roger, Hector, Nil and his sisters Lorraine, Rosalie, Hermeline, and Josephine. Wilfred’s funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-7PM in the funeral home. Such a nice funny man. So sorry for your loss. Have many great memories of golf at 5 AM back in the day before we all got so fancy. Hope he and Sharkey are teeing it up upstairs!

  3. I’m very sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing. My father Bill had many great memories about the hockey trips to Canada when Willy and my brother Dave were playing. Although it had been a while since they saw one another, he always spoke of your Dad and what a great friend and funny man he was.

I’m sure that they are sharing some great stories in Heaven.

    Take care.

    May he rest in peace.
