William A. Mercier

February 19, 1937 ~ November 22, 2021
William A. Mercier, 84, of Danvers, died early Monday morning, Nov. 22, 2021 at the Lahey Medical Center in Peabody. He was the loving husband of Lynn E. (Amnott) Mercier.
Born in Lawrence on Feb. 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Theodore and Katherine (Burns) Mercier. He was raised and educated mostly in Danvers and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University.
He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and subsequently served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Mr. Mercier was employed by Digital in Woburn for many years. He was also a licensed barber, and was an owner of Ye Olde Barber Shop in Ipswich.
He was dedicated to his family, and was always willing to help friends and family, whatever their needs.
He leaves, in addition to his wife, four children, Michael Mercier and his wife Michelle of Danvers, Matthew Mercier of Danvers, Hayley Silva of Florida, and Laurie Mercier of Beverly, two grandchildren, Lydia Mercier of Montana and Jared Mercier of New Hampshire, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Jacqueline Sheridan, and three brothers, Richard, Thomas, and James Mercier.

I worked with Bill at Digital in our Andover facility. I remember him as a fine Gentleman and a very good friend. I occasionally got stressed out with project deadlines and some difficult personalities. One thing Bill told me that I will never forget. “Don’t take life too seriously… It’s only a temporary situation”.
