DANVERS- William J. Lord, 84, passed away on June 28, 2016. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Cole) Lord.
Born in Danvers on October 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Albert S. and Carrie N. (Innis) Lord. He was raised and educated in Danvers, and graduated from Holten High School. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. William had been a carpenter and owned Lord Homes, Inc.
He is survived by his daughter and her family, Deborah Lord, Claire O'Brien, and his granddaughter, Sophie O'Brien of North Andover, a special niece, Melanie Carver of Salem, his son, Scott Lord of Cambridge, and his brother, John Lord of Florida.
His Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Friday, July 1, 2016 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 9:30AM-10:45AM, prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s name may be made to mspca.org.
I will always think of William Lord as a kind man. He was very fond of my daughter Melanie, and treated her like his own. We refer to him as Uncle Willy. Uncle Willy, you will truly be missed. Until we meet again, rest in peace and know you are loved.

I AM SADDENED TO LEARN OF BILL’S PASSING.WE HAD MANY A CUP OF COFFEE AT DUNKIN’S, COMPARING STORIES OF HIS HUMBLE STORIES DURING THE KOREAN WAR. BILL MADE VERY LITTLE OF HIS PURPLE HEART AND MEDAL OF HONOR FOR SAVING A WOUNDED SOLDIER DURING THE CONFLICT.
BILL WAS ALSO KNOWN FOR BUILDING QUALITH HOMES IN THE HAMILTON IPSWICH AREAS IF YOU HAD A LORD BUILT HOME YOU HAD A GOOD ONE
