PEABODY- William M. Gately, 37, passed away on April 24, 2021 in Salem Hospital. Born in Salem on March 21, 1984, he was the son of George Gately and Sally Thompson of Peabody. He was raised and educated in Peabody and graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in 2001. Will attended North Shore Community College and Lincoln Technology for welding. He had worked as a welder for many years. Will enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, landscaping and golfing. He was an avid New England sports fan. He especially loved spending holidays with his cousins. In addition to his parents, George and Sally, he is survived by his son, Aidan, his former wife, Shannon (Daly) Gately of N. Andover, his aunts and uncles, Charlotte and Mike Shea of Salem, Mark and Laurel Thompson of Swampscott and Linda Thompson of Peabody, many cousins and his dog, Athena. He was predeceased by his brother, Kevin Gately. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Attendees are kindly asked to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing. All other services are private.   8. My most sincere apologies for the loss of Will! I babysat him & his brother on Essex St when I was 14. He’s grown up with a beautiful family of his own. Will’s passing is a tragedy fir his families & friends. When I saw this I was so shocked. George & Sally, I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose him at such an early age. There aren’t any words i can say that express my sorrow for you all. You are in my prayers $ thoughts It’s funny I remember Sally telling me to run the vacuum near his bedroom to help him fall asleep ❤️ 💕💞. I’m so very sorry fir your loss. Sincerely, Sheryl DiLisio
