DANVERS- formerly of Everett, Margaret I. (Fregosi) Monteforte, 104, passed away on June 2, 2022. She was the wife of the late Charles J. Monteforte. Born in Everett on February 24, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Caroline (Tarico) Fregosi. She was a life-long resident of Everett and a communicant of Saint Anthony Parish. Margaret worked for many years at Gorin’s/Almy’s in Everett Square but her most important work was caring for her family. Margaret was the heart of our family and the “life of the party” on vacation and at family celebrations. She warmed five generations with her hand-crocheted “Noni blankets.” She was a devoted Boston sports fan. Born the same year that the Red Sox won their last World Series of the 20th century, she lived to see the curse reversed in 2004 and celebrated many other championships for the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. She is survived by six children, Charles Monteforte, Jr. and his wife, Mary of FL, Marjorie Hubert of Danvers and the late Charles, Carol Galliford of NH and the late James, Michael Monteforte of N. Billerica, Paul Monteforte and his wife, Donna of Everett and Paulette Henry and her husband, Steven of N. Billerica, 24 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Louise Slabine and her siblings, Irma, Mary, Lena, Catherine “Rose”, Ralph, and Virginia. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in Saint Anthony Church, 38 Oakes St, Everett. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Monday, June 6, 2022, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, 28 Elm St., Danvers. While visiting with the family they request you wear a facial covering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St., Reading, MA, 01867.
