Born in: Peabody, Massachusetts
Resided in: Boxford, Massachusetts

Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Jalbert passed away on June 23, 2026, at age 78 after a brief illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Dorothy was known to her family and friends as Dottie or Dot, but her five favorite people in the world called her Grammy!

Dottie was born in Peabody on March 14, 1948, the only child of Edmund Pszenny and Mary (Bilj) Pszenny. She received a parochial school education, first at the former Ste. Chretienne Academy in Salem, graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody in 1966, and met her future husband at the former Andover Institute of Business in Lynn, MA.

Dottie married Roger P. Jalbert of Salem at the Knights of Columbus in Lynn on November 28, 1971, and they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage, raising their family in Danvers and later moving to Boxford’s Four Mile Village. She also had a long and successful career as a real estate Title Examiner for various law firms on the North Shore.

Dorothy’s greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she loved attending their many activities. She also cherished trips with her husband Roger to Kennebunkport and Ogunquit, Maine. She enjoyed spending time with Danvers family friends, her Registry friends and later her new friends at Four Mile Village. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved watching the Red Sox, Phantom Gourmet and murder mysteries. She also loved cooking, baking, and gardening, and was known for bringing homemade soups and baked goods to her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Roger, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Farrell Jalbert of Manchester-by-the-Sea and their children Ciara, Owen and Lucy Jalbert and her daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Matthew Burke of Topsfield and their children Brian and Christopher Burke. She also leaves behind extended family Mary Jalbert and her lifelong best friend Joyce Merrill, who have been by her side always.

The family would like to extend special thanks to all of Dottie’s caregivers, especially Kate Murphy and the staff at the Kaplan House.

Her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10AM on Wednesday, July 1st at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, 226 North St., Salem. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, June 30th in the funeral home. Donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Talbot Memorial Fund c/o 39 Pickering St., Danvers, MA, 01923. Guestbook

  1. We already miss you so much Dot! We will do good by you and raise your grandchildren to be kind, generous, and thoughtful yet resilient, authentic and thick-skinned (Polish-Ukrainian ancestry)!

Rest in peace Grammy, gone but never forgotten! 🙏🏻💔💐😢

  2. God speed Dot. You were one of the first to welcome me to the Danvers Community when I first moved here over 50 years ago. I loved you than and I love you now and will miss your smiling face.
