PEABODY-Alban J. Begin, 89, passed away on August 7, 2014, in his home in Peabody. Born in Danvers on July 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Alban F. and Beatrice (Matton) Begin. Alban served our country with the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged and the recipient of many citations including the Purple Heart. He continued his dedicated service to our country by serving an additional 3 years in the National Guard and was again honorably discharged. Alban “Al” Begin was a dedicated family man with a strong work ethic. He had been employed as a machinist for Sylvania for many years and was also employed at the former Ruggles and Klingemann of Salem. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Chakoutis of Peabody, three grandsons, Scott Chakoutis Jr. and his fiancée Danielle Benyue of Beverly, Ricky Chakoutis and his fiancé Amanda Abreu of Salem and Daniel P. Begin of Peabody. He was the proud Great Grandfather of Tye and Caylee Chakoutis and Damian and April Chakoutis. He was predeceased by his son, Paul J. Begin, his siblings, Anita Crowther and Paul Begin. His Graveside Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 15, 2014 with Military Honors in Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675.
