Alma Bechard
August 6, 1937 ~ February 5, 2023
On Sunday, February 5th, Alma Bechard, loving wife of 58 years to the late Bob Bechard, passed away. She was a vibrant eighty-five years young when she sadly succumbed to her illness.
Alma graduated from Beverly High School in 1955 and soon after, married Bob and resided in Beverly, where they raised their seven children. She retired from GTE Sylvania in the early 1990’s and moved to New Hampshire shortly thereafter.
Alma was recently most active in her community in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, finding new friends while playing in her tennis league that she loved and played into her early 80’s. She had a sweet tooth, frequented candy stores and loved her ice cream, especially for breakfast!
When meeting Alma for the first time, folks were immediately drawn to her because of her genuine witty and outgoing nature. She had an infectious personality, one that made us all love to be around her.
Those who had the privilege of calling Alma friend, mom, nana and great nana know first-hand the positive impact she had made on their lives and the lives of others.
Alma is survived by her six children Kelley Bergeron and her husband Gary, Jeff Bechard and his wife Annie, Karen Bechard, Kristin Pelletier, David Bechard and his wife Paula and Katie Adjutant and her husband Eric. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Alma is also survived by her two brothers Edward Dean and James “Jimmy” Dean and his wife Dolores. She is now joined in heaven with her son, Barry, who passed away in 1981.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30AM on Friday, February 10, 2023, in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Alma’s passion was helping others, especially children. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able, instead, make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in her Alma’s name at https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html.
She was a wonderful Mama-Bear to her beautiful, big, loving family!
