Andre C. Jasse

andre jasse
We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of Andy Jasse, loving husband of Sandra Jasse, brother of Richard Jasse, father of Michael, Jennifer and Michelle, father-in-law to Kim Dyer, Andy Mack and John Hytten, and devoted grandfather of Matthew, Natalie, Laurena, Andrew, Brennan, Madison, Benjamin and Maya. Andre C Jasse Jr was born to Andre C Jasse, and Katherine (Murphy) Jasse in Boston on April 1st, 1940. Andy grew up in a loving household with his brother Richard in Winthrop Mass. He attended Boston College High School and graduated in 1959. During the summers while attending Georgia Tech he worked as an electrician and volunteered at the Winthrop Fire Department. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1963 and left with vivid memories of the injustice and insensitivity of the segregated south, which stayed with him his entire life. From this experience he carried with him a strong sense of duty to do the right thing and provide everyone with equal treatment and the dignity they deserve. Upon returning to the Northeast he went to Boston College School of Law and graduated in 1966. After a short time as a stock broker in New York, he joined the Law firm of Brown Rudnick in 1969. He became partner in 1976 and as the firm began its expansion he became managing partner in 1985, a position he would hold for six elected terms and over 18 years until his retirement in 2006. Under his stewardship Boston-based Brown Rudnick expanded to Hartford, Providence, San Francisco, Paris and London. Retirement did not stop Andy from continuous work as a member of the board of directors for Eastern Bank for over 20 years, Spaulding Partners HealthCare, Empower Success Corps and BAMSI. He also volunteered to be an election observer in 7 rising democracies, a majority of which were located in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Andy filled his free time with family cooking elaborate meals, golfing and planning voyages to see the world. He and Sandy visited over 120 countries and never ceased to be amazed and enthralled with the diversity and beauty of the world. He loved documenting these trips with his other favorite pastime-photography, and the pictures he has left for his children and grandchildren will forever serve as a legacy of his joy of travel and his love of all humanity. He will be remembered for his generosity, leadership, altruism, and what he has given to all of us-Sandy, his wife of 57 years, his children and all his grandchildren. He will be missed by us all. His Memorial Mass will be Friday, September 1, 2023 at 10:30AM in Saint Rose of Lima Church, 20 Park St., Topsfield. There are no visiting hours and burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Andre’s memory may be made to the Jasse Scholarship in History, c/o Ferrum College, 215 Ferrum Mtn. Rd., Ferrum, VA 24088. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. As the Chief Administrative Officer at Brown Rudnick, I worked for Andy during my tenure. His leadership of the Firm and his management of me both demonstrated his talent, intelligence, empathy and, perhaps most importantly, kindness. Andy looked out for me, a non-Attorney in an organization where being an Attorney was what gave one credibility. He trusted me and advocated for me when I needed it. My deepest thanks to him and my condolences to Sandy and the rest of Andy’s family. He lived a long and good life and the loss is a profound one.

  2. I worked with and knew Andy as the Lead Director of Eastern Bank. He was a first class professional but more importantly just an outstanding person who was always focused on doing the right thing. In these turbulent times we have lost another great one. He will be sorely missed.

  3. My condolences to the entire Jasse Family. Andy served on my board at Spaulding Rehab Hospital for several years. He was a top notch trustee – conscientious, smart and fully committed. He was reserved and displayed quiet strength and compassion. I feel fortunate to have known him.

  4. I was a schoolmate of Andy’s at BC High. I visited Andy and family several times in Winthrop during those High School years. I was on a zoom call with other classmates and recently asked about Andy. He was a great classmate, a friend, and a fellow “scientist” and on he went to Georgia Tech — a big move for a Boston kid but formed a livelong commitment of “one for others”. May he now celebrate his everlasting life.

  5. My heart breaks for the entire Jasse family. Andy was one of a kind! People said he was just like my dad, Joe Harvey. That’s a terrific compliment,as my dad was the most loving, thoughtful and kind person, I have ever known. I hope that you all will keep the wonderful loving memories close to your heart. May these memories give you comfort and peace through the coming days. Take good care of yourselves. That’s what Andy would want you to do. Sending Love, Maryellen and the entire Harvey family.

  6. Most importantly, Andy loved his family and friends and showed it in so many ways. He was also committed to making a contribution to the world. He was the kind of person who held fast to his way of living in this world. He was gracious and polite, he was honest, he gave people the benefit of the doubt and when necessary, told people the hard truth. Andy was smart and worked hard to understand what needed to be done and how to do it. His super power was bringing people together to accomplish great things. Working with someone day in and day out, it is impossible not to experience all these important things and to learn from him. I was honored to be mentored by Andy at Brown Rudnick and to be his friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Andy’s wonderful family and his friends.

  7. One of the first members I had the pleasure to work with extensively on a project was Mr. Jasse. He was my favorite partner to work with as he always was the most professional and so incredibly kind. His intelligence was just remarkable. He would tell me I made him look good but it was the other way around! He was always so appreciative of anything I did for him and he made me feel so special and very appreciated. My favorite times were hearing about what travel he was doing next. My condolences to the family, a loss of such a wonderful and man is never easy. May the wonderful memories carry you through the difficult times. -Janet Sherwood

  9. Marijane and I have lost a great friend !
We have been friends with Andy and Sandy for 25 years. We met after we moved to Ipswich MA. We played golf, enjoyed dining out at great restaurants, traveled together ( Sandy, remember Cuba ? ) and we never missed an opportunity to have a martini. Andy and I also loved to go out for breakfast, where we solved the problems of the world and a few of our own. We did this whenever we could, and more frequently after we retired. We had a further connection since we also had homes in Estero, Florida. On rare occasions Andy would cook for us – he was a gourmet chef ! He loved to cook as a way to relax, and one day he came home and said to Sandy – can I cook dinner, and of course she said YES .
Andy loved his work, and the people he worked with. The FIRM, Eastern, and Mass General. He was quite proud that all those organizations gave back many millions of dollars to the less fortunate! After retiring he loved traveling to endless countries to help supervise elections, and he loved trying to help BAMSI.
We read all the comments from his work friends and their comments about Andy were spot on.
But most of all he loved his family and he tried to help them any way he could, in his quiet way as they went through their lives.Their annual family reunions were always the highlight of his year. We know that his love for Sandy was endless.
We know he wrote a book about his life, to give to his family, we bet it’s a keeper !
We will miss you Andy and Sandy you can’t get rid of us.

  10. I first met Andy when I joined ESC about 8 years ago. We worked together on couple of projects. He was a great mentor and wonderful human being. It was pleasure working with him and listening to his travel adventure. Later we both joined BAMSI board around the same time. Andy contribution to BAMSI board is huge – he brought a structure and process to governance. My heartfelt condolences to Andy’s family. You made the world a little better for everyone. Rest in Peace Andy.

    David
