Anne (McHugh) Fay Derleth, 84, a longtime Danvers resident, died Monday morning, June 18, 2012, following an extended illness. She was the loving wife of James F. Derleth, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Boston on July 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret (Powers) McHugh. She was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of Fitton Girls High School. She went on to graduate from Emmanuel College and earned her master’s degree from Salem State College. An educator in the Danvers School System for over thirty years, Anne was an elementary school reading specialist. She was a faithful daily communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church and the Carmelite Chapel. She loved spending time at Long Beach on Cape Ann. She was a loving and devoted friend and cherished family relationships. Anne was a talented seamstress who delighted in making things for her daughters and granddaughters. In addition to her husband, she leaves three daughters, Elizabeth Fay McMahon and her husband Vincent of South Orange, NJ, Nancy Fay Miller and her husband Michael of Falmouth, ME, Teresa Fay and her husband John Lesniak of Philadelphia, PA; two sons, Peter Fay and his wife Karen of Westford and Jamie Fay and his wife Kathy of Half Moon, NY; a sister, Margaret MacDonald of Dorchester; and 16 loving grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Kay and John McHugh and Frances O’Brien. ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 9 AM, in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8 PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s name may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mt. Carmel Road, Danvers, MA 01923.
