Anne Marie (Sargent) Cullen, 77, a lifelong resident of Hamilton, died peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Beverly Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of Walter D. Cullen, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and community.

Born in Cambridge on May 28, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Flanagan) Sargent. Anne Marie was raised and educated in Hamilton and was a proud member of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School Class of 1966. She remained a lifelong resident of Maple Street, where her deep roots and unwavering commitment to her hometown became a defining part of her life.

Anne Marie’s love for Hamilton was evident in all she did. She was instrumental in reviving the town’s Christmas Tree Bonfire, helped establish the cherished “Pumpkins in the Park” event, and worked tirelessly to ensure that Patton Park was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights each holiday season. She was always eager to collaborate with others to strengthen the community she loved so dearly. Her civic involvement also included serving as past president of the Acord Food Pantry and the Hamilton Historical Society.

For 39 years, Anne Marie served the Town of Hamilton as an emergency dispatcher, ultimately holding the role of Chief Dispatcher. Her steady presence, calm demeanor, and dedication to public safety made her a trusted and respected figure in the community.

Following her retirement, she embraced a second chapter as a substitute teacher at the Buker Elementary School, where she formed meaningful relationships with both students and staff, continuing her lifelong commitment to service and care for others.

A woman of deep faith, Anne Marie was a longtime communicant of the Church of St. Paul in Hamilton, where she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and acolyte.

In addition to her husband, Walter, she is survived by her loving children: Linda Mastrianni and her husband David of Hamilton; Joan Gebhardt and her husband Michael of Cumming, Georgia; and Sean Cullen and his wife Erin of Hamilton. She was the proud grandmother of Ashley Maxson and her husband Sam, Victoria Corbin, Kathleen O’Brien and her husband Matthew, Callie Mastrianni and her partner Sam, Samantha Gebhardt, James Gebhardt, and Alexander Cullen. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Caden, Evelyn, Shaylene, and Hadley, her siblings, Margaret Dumas, Francis William Sargent, Laurence Sargent, and Judith Sargent, and several nieces and nephews.
