Anthony Wojtowicz

Anthony Wojtowicz, 91, passed away on April 26, 2011 in Alabama, where he had resided with family for the past two years. He was the husband of the late Gladys (Nelson) Wojtowicz. Born in Salem on Feb. 22, 1920, he was the son of the late John and Teofila (Gerwanowski) Wojtowicz. Anthony had been a resident of Danvers for over 50 years. He was employed as a fire marshal at A.C. Lawrence Leather Factory in Peabody and also as a security guard at Bostik Chemical in Middleton. Anthony served our country in WWII with the U.S. Army. He was in the 242nd Rainbow Div. Infantry and 208th Field Artillery and was awarded four stars for four battles and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He is survived by a son Robert Wojtowicz and his wife Rebecca of Alabama, a daughter Lyn Humes and her husband Ray of Somerville and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Wojtowicz of Peabody, nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Anthony Wojtowicz, and siblings, Joseph Wojtowicz and Josephine Kalapinski. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10AM on Mon., May 2, 2011 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Wenham Cemetery, Wenham. Vst. hrs are Sun from 4PM-7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made in Anthony’s name to Operation Troop Support c/o 16 Trinity St., Danvers, MA 01923
