Antonio Thomas “Tony” Mastrorocco, Jr., 90, died Wednesday morning, January 30, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness through which he was lovingly cared for at home. He was the husband of Mary (DeCotis) Mastrorocco, with whom he shared forty-five years of marriage. Born in Derry, PA on Oct. 13, 1922, he was the son of the late Antonio and Mary (Scongiofurno) Mastrorocco. He was raised and educated in Derry and was a graduate of Derry Borough High School, Class of 1940. A decorated veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy on the Pacific front. Tony came to the North Shore after the war and he met his wife, Mary, and settled in Danvers, where he resided for sixty-seven years. For many years, he was employed by Temco Corp. in Danvers. A communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, he was a member of the Vittori-Rocci Post and the ICC in Beverly, where he enjoyed playing cards and having coffee each morning with his friends. He also enjoyed gardening. Although he had no children of his own, he was “Uncle Tony” to many. He is survived by his sisters and brother, Louise Steffani, Teresa Lazarchit, Anna-Grace Mosso and her husband Paul, and Joseph Mastrorocco and his wife Jean, many nieces and nephews including Bob Tomaselli and his wife Nancie of Danvers, Maureen Tomaselli of Danvers, Peter Tosi and his wife Ruth of PA, Carmella (Tosi) Stitt and her husband Greg of WA, Debra Zoullas of NY, Michael DeCotis and his wife Patti of Marblehead, and Don Mastrorocco and his wife Jean of PA, and many great nieces and nephews, including Jonathan and Judd Tomaselli, to whom he was more like a grandfather. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 11AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are prior to the funeral from 9-10:45AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.

  1. Bob, Nancie, Jonathan and Judd, We will miss seeing Uncle Tony on our annual visits north. He is in our hearts and thoughts. We will always picture him sitting on the porch watching the Park Street world pass by. Love to you all and our sympathies, Wayne and Cathy.

I was sad to learn of Tony’s passing. we sat to gether as a group every saturday afternoon at the 4pm mass. abd that it how i got to know him. a wonderful man always joking and always happy and he aways talked about his nephew. Tony will be missed and i am sure he is with all the other angels in heaven. he was a wonderful man. annmarie lezenski
