Barbara Caldwell

Barbara A. (Kaestner) Caldwell, 67, died Sunday morning, November 4, 2012 at her home in Middleton following a courageous, brief battle with A.L.S. She was the wife of the late William Caldwell, with whom she shared over thirty years of marriage. Born in Chelsea on May 26, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Florence (Foster) Kaestner. She was raised and educated in Chelsea and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. She then served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Merrimack College. For more than thirty years, Barbara was employed as an accountant for Raytheon in North Andover. A longtime Topsfield resident, she was an enthusiastic day trader and was dedicated to her family. She is survived by her children, Scott Caldwell of San Francisco, CA, Brian Caldwell and his wife Kierin of Topsfield, Kathie Caldwell of Middleton, and Jacquelin “Jackie” Caldwell of Arlington, and four grandchildren, Noah Leary, and Jack, Sam, and Ally Caldwell. She was predeceased by a brother, Jerome “Jerry” Kaestner. Visiting hours are Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 from 6-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. All other services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101.
Barbara, You lived your life with amazing strength and grace, always prevailing in times of difficulty. I see your children also have your amazing strength. Your laugh was contagious and I’ll always hold dear the memorable times we had working together at Raytheon. I’ve been blessed to have known you. Heaven has welcomed a true angel home.
