Barbara Ellen Callahan

Barbara Ellen Callahan, 74, passed away on March 7, 2012 in Beverly Hospital. Born in Canada on February 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Milton J. and Pauline E. (Hemsworth) Callahan. She was raised and educated in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School in 1956. She was the beloved mother of Donald Wessels, Jr. of Hawaii, Sharon Caulfield and her husband Robert of Peabody, Karen MacGregor and her husband Bill of Danvers and Scott Wessels and his wife Jody of Haverhill, loving sister of Sandra Neider of CA, Nancy Leary of Middleton, Deborah Taverese of Peabody and Lillian St. Pierre of Maine and an adoring grandmother of seven grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Monday, March 12, 2012 in St. Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Winter St., Saugus. Vst. hrs are Sunday from 2-4PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the American Diabetes Assoc. 330 Congress St # 501, Boston, MA 02210 or the American Heart Assoc. 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

I wish to send my condolances to Barbara’s sisters, Nancy, Sandy, Debbie, and Lillian, and Barbara’s cousin Roberta for their loss. I have many positive memories of Barbara when I lived with her parents and sisters in Saugas as a young adult. Also I would like to extend my condolances to Barbara’s family for their loss of a mother, grandmother, and aunt. I hope that your memories will give you peace at this time of your loss. I’m sorry to hear about Barbara’s passing, my condolences to your family during this sad time. I met Barbara when we worked together at Lechmere and we’ve stayed in touch through the years. She was an amazing person, I will always remember her smile, her humor, and how great she always looked. While she is no longer with us she will always be remember as an amazing lady.
