Benny J. Nocella, Jr., 78, of Newburyport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Somerville on June 9, 1948, he was the beloved son of the late Benny J. and Grace (Paolillo) Nocella. He was raised and educated in Somerville, later making his home in Stoneham and Wakefield before relocating to Newburyport more than ten years ago.

For 32 years, Benny proudly owned and operated Tattoos by Benny in Salem, New Hampshire. A gifted artist with a creative spirit, he built lasting friendships with generations of clients who appreciated not only his remarkable talent, but also his kindness and sense of humor.

Outside of his work, Benny embraced life with enthusiasm. He was always on the hunt for the perfect pizza or burger, enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, and loved antiquing, especially making trips to the Brimfield Antique Flea Market. Above all else, Benny found his greatest joy in spending time with and caring for his cherished grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and the love he shared with them will be remembered always.

He is survived by the love of his life, Elaine (Scheri) Nocella; his loving daughters, Julie Zielinski and her husband, Jon, and Brenda Fariole and her husband, Larry; his adored grandchildren, Michael Zielinski and Sofia Fariole; his brother, Frank Nocella; his sister, Marie Cuozzo; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Benny was predeceased by his brother, Raymond, and his sister, Dolores.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street, Danvers.
