Brother Victor Pizzolato, CFX, 92, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at Xaverian House in Danvers. He had been a Xaverian Brother for 69 years. Born in Tampa, Fla., on April 30, 1918, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Beatrice (Fiorito) Pizzolato. He was raised and educated in Florida and entered the Congregation of the Brothers of Saint Francis Xavier and was clothed in the Holy Habit in March of 1942, taking the religious name Brother Marcus. Brother Victor attended Xaverian College and completed his undergraduate degree from Catholic University. In 1959, he received his graduate degree from Fordham University. Brother Victor's teaching apostalate began at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, where he served for 10 years. After short stints at St. John's Prep in Danvers and Archbishop Stepinac High School in New York, he taught at Mt. St. Joseph High School in Baltimore, where he served as chairman of the Modern Languages Department. He then served as principal and community superior at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Wheaton, Md., before an eight year teaching assignment at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Ky. From 1974 until the time of his retirement, Brother Victor taught at Tampa Catholic High School in Florida. At the time of his death, he was the oldest member of his religious community and had been a resident of Xaverian House since 2001. In addition to his brothers in religion, he leaves a sister, Lily Kendrick of Florida. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of St. John's Preparatory School (Administration Bldg.), 72 Spring St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Xaverian Brothers' Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours precede the funeral from 3 to 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the Prep Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brother Victor's name may be made to the Xaverian Brothers Retirement Fund, 4409 Frederick Ave., Baltimore, MD 21229. Arrangements are by C.R.
