Carl W. Broughton

Carl W. Broughton, 90, passed away on Feb. 13, 2011. He was the husband of the late Barbara “Shirley” (Carney) Broughton. He was born in Lynn on Dec. 4, 1920, the son of the late John and Charlotte (Covill) Broughton. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School. Carl served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. He was also a member of the Essex Lodge A.F & A.M. in Danvers. Carl was employed as an accountant with Varian in Beverly for over 25years. He is survived by his children, Cindy MacDonald and her husband Douglas of Kingston and Bill Broughton and his wife Irene of Salisbury, five grandchildren, Doug MacDonald and his wife Sarah and Andrea and Bill MacDonald and Jessica and Emily Broughton, sister-in-law, Gladys Broughton of Salem and several nephews. He was predeceased by a brother John “Jack” Broughton. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thurs., Feb. 17 at 11AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Vst. hrs are Wed. from 4PM-8PM.
We are so sorry about your loss. Carl was such a good neighbor and friend. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. He was a gentle man with a wonderful smile and loved by all.
