Carole A. Alves

Carole A. (Gallant) Alves, 81, a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and faithful servant of her community, passed away on October 2, 2023, at the Masconomet Rehab Center in Topsfield. Born in Salem on May 13, 1942, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph R. and Ruth (Pickard) Gallant.
Raised and educated in Danvers, she was a 1960 graduate of Holten High School. Carole's commitment to her country led her to serve as a civilian secretary in the United States Air Force for many years.
In the course of her life, Carole found love and companionship with her late husband, Raymond S. Alves. Together, they operated their motel, the Gale Force, in Provincetown for several years before relocating to southern New Hampshire.
Carole's faith played a central role in her life. Whether at St. Peter's in Provincetown, St. Joseph in Raymond, New Hampshire, or St. Michael's in Exeter, New Hampshire, she was actively involved in her local Catholic church. Her unwavering faith served as a source of strength and inspiration for those who knew her.
Carole is survived by her loving children: Danielle Arel of San Diego, California, Irene Doherty of Chester, New Hampshire, Judy Carmody of Mendon, Steven Alves of California, and David Alves of California. She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Marilyn Gabriel of Northfield, Massachusetts, and Virginia Sidmore of Danvers. Carole was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole Gallant Alves, and her son, Raymond Alves Jr. She also mourned the loss of her brother, Allen Gallant.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 10AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-5PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will be Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 10AM in Saint Peter’s Cemetery, Provincetown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carole’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452. I am the mother of one of Carole’s grandchildren, Cody Raymond Alves. His father Raymond Alves, Jr, proceeded her in death. I only met Carole a few times, but I found her to be kind and caring. I will always remember her sweet smile. My condolences to Carole’s family and friends.

Carole was my neighbor and a close friend. Her daughter Danielle and my daughter Liz grew up together right to adulthood. Carole was so warm, loving and supportive. My condolences to Danielle and to all of her family.
