DANVERS—Catherine J. (Kennedy) Connors, 92, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Francis L. “Mickey” Connors, who predeceased her in 1995. Born in Salem on Sept. 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen (Galvin) Kennedy. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1936. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Connors was employed as a bookkeeper with Champion Lamps of Lynn. A longtime Salem resident and communicant of St. James Church, Mrs. Connors had resided in Danvers for the last 15 years. She enjoyed baking and reading and was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Coughlin and her husband Paul of Danvers, Sheila Wheeler of Danvers, and Patrick Connors of Salem, a son-in-law, Glenn Wheeler of Marblehead, five grandchildren, Sean, Colleen, and Geoffrey Wheeler, Deirdre Coughlin, and Timothy Coughlin and his wife Katie, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Francis and Joseph Kennedy, Mary Connors, Ellen Mizzi, Bridget Strainge, Marguerite Potter, Anne Kelleher, Doris Smith, Marion Creeden, and Irene Teal. The family would like to thank the staff at Spectrum Adult Care for the wonderful, caring treatment they provided Kitty during the past three years. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10AM in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
