Catherine D. (Stromeski) Salvo, 91, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2009. She was the wife of the late Ralph F. Salvo, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Born in Cambridge on Nov. 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Stella (Andzewski) Stromeski. She was raised and educated in Cambridge. Mrs. Salvo resided in Salem for 60 years while most recently wintering in Margate, Florida and summering at her daughter’s home in Byfield, MA. She met her husband while working at Monarch Foods in Somerville. Mrs. Salvo was a past president of the Salem Women’s Police Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Scrabble and Bonanza with her family. She especially loved hosting Polish Christmas Eve in her home. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Jean Salvo of Danvers and Thomas Salvo and Jane Albert of Tewksbury, a daughter, Stella Beausoleil of Arizona, a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Michael Scaparotti of Byfield, thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in-law Robert Beausoliel and siblings, Walter Strom and Hedwiga “Ida” Szabunka. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Sat., Oct. 17, 2009 in St. John the Baptist Church, 28 St. Peter St, Salem. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Vst. hrs are Fri. from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
