Catherine Sullivan-Bradley
March 28, 1949 ~ June 20, 2024
Catherine Sullivan-Bradley, 75, of Danvers, passed away following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the loving wife of John P. Bradley with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Brookline on March 28, 1949, Cathy was the daughter of the late James and Catherine “Alice” (Mazza) Sullivan. She was raised and educated in Somerville. Cathy’s warm personality led her to a career as a caregiver for individuals with mental health issues. She was also a local real estate agent and enjoyed helping her clients find the perfect home. Cathy was a longtime resident of Danvers where she served as a member of the Town’s Human Rights and Inclusion Committee.
Cathy had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing whenever and wherever possible. She was a member of the Follow Hymn Interfaith Choir as well as the North Shore Unitarian Universalist Singing Group. She also sang the Star-Spangled Banner at the Town of Danvers Independence Day Commemoration, and at numerous ceremonies and celebrations for family and friends.
In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by two children, James Bradley and his wife Christina of Kensington, Maryland, and Johnna Ross and her husband Steven of Topsfield; her brothers, Mark Sullivan and his wife Suzan of Tewksbury, John Sullivan and his wife Joan of Bangor, Maine, and her sister-in-law Monica Sullivan of Beverly; three grandchildren, Alice Bradley, and George and Gavin Ross; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. She was predeceased by her brothers James and Richard Sullivan.
Cathy’s family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Charter Senior Living of Danvers, Care Dimensions, and the Danvers Senior Center for the exceptional care and compassion they gave to Cathy and her family throughout her long illness.
Her visitation will be held from 4PM-6:30PM, with a service to follow at 6:30PM, on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. So many good times with Cathy – being rebel theater moms together, listening to her gorgeous voice when she snuck on the stage at the Shalin Lu Center after a theater performance, enjoying Josh’s band with her, meeting up for a coffee or lunch. Always know that love is unforgettable because the heart always remembers. I wrote a poem about that beautiful moment at the Shalin Lu… Love and comfort to you all. Beth
Private Concert at Shalin Lu
The concert hall
is empty –
only evening light
flows through
the stage window.
Cathy peeks in –
now light slyly flickers
in her smile.
“I’ve always wanted
to do this,” she says
and slips inside.
Although she is petite
her voice is honeyed
and strong –
a singular symphony–
the concert hall
is no longer empty.
I stand in the back
not moving,
not breathing –
enchanted, privileged
as the only one to hear.

Cathy was a close friend and colleague for many years. I will never forget how she and John always had an extra place setting at their dinner table for me. And most importantly was when she and Johnna showed up at the airport to welcome me and my newly adopted son home from Paraguay. Cathy will be missed by so many and made significant contributions to others throughout her life.
Cathy and I worked together at Vernon Martin where I first started my career in real estate. She is the one who encouraged me to get into the field and was a fast friend. She was always kind and supportive. Our daughters were about the same age and we often helped each other with their care. I am so saddened to hear of her passing. I had lost touch with her over the past several years as I had been battling my own medical issues.. The world is truly less special without her kind soul. John and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the footprint she has left here on earth and the many memories you share. All my love, Anne Casale-Skinner & Family
