NEWBURYPORT- Claire M. (Sirois) Foley, 86, passed away on August 11, 2023 in her home surrounded by her family. Born in Danvers on October 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Germaine (Roy) Sirois. Claire was raised in Peabody. She attended Saint John School in Peabody and Saint Chretienne Academy High School in Salem, received a bachelor’s degree from Regis College and completed post graduate work at Penn State. Claire had a lengthy career as a nutritionist. For 35 years, she was a dietitian at Beverly Hospital, as well as a consultant for local nursing homes. She was a member of both the Massachusetts and American Dietary Associations. Claire was a joyful person who made everyone in her life feel special and loved. Her smile was radiant, her words were kind, she was quick to laugh, and she always had time to listen. Claire was a health and wellness enthusiast. She could be found walking every street in Newburyport and lifting weights at Planet Fitness. She enjoyed skiing, ice skating, gardening, and any adventure that came her way. She was also an accomplished pianist. She spent endless hours with her grandkids who adored her. Some of her most treasured times were the many summers the family spent on the lakes and beaches of NH, swimming, making mud balls and shooting off fireworks. Surrounded by her children and grandchildren, these magical vacations were dubbed “Grammy Camp.” She is survived by three children, Ken Foley and his wife, Beth of W. Newbury, Ellen Foley-Sheehy and her husband, Stephen of W. Newbury, and Sue Foley-Vadeboncoeur and her husband, Michael of Brentwood, NH, her seven cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Liam and Jillian Sheehy, Jake, Evan and Shauna Vadeboncoeur and Josh Foley, her siblings Edward Sirois, M.D. of Peabody, Henry Sirois of AZ and Richard Sirois of NH, her dear friend Frederick Murtagh of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Joseph Sirois, M.D., Elaine Doyle and Therese Sirois. Claire’s funeral service will be celebrated Friday, August 25, 2023 at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Visitation will be held from 9-10AM, followed immediately by a 10AM service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
